PES activists in Hungary are showing their support for Barack Obama by preparing apricot jam for the Democrat candidate to the US Presidency.
In fact, "Barack" means apricot in Hungarian so activists meeting in the Hungarian city Tallya decided to produce and sell this jam labelled "Barack for Obama". The funds collected were given to local organizations that fight child poverty.
As Matyas Gati, one of the organizers, put it “This is a fun way of making a serious point. Barack Obama is very popular in Hungary because he is so charismatic and because he offers a real alternative to the Republicans who have made such a mess of things in America and abroad. We also wanted to show that we PES activists share the same democratic values and aspirations as Mr Obama. He embodies the principles and values we want to promote as PES activists. We support his ideas for change and the attitude of his politics.” Check the video with a shorter version of the interview.
And don't miss PES activists video showing how activists prepared the whole thing!

This initiative is really interesting - taking the funny thing in it and spreading a serious idea.
As it can be very catchy and since media always provide coverage for kind of ideas, I am sure that PES activists Hungary will get coverage in the US!
3. Wrong judgement shadows Obama by arktika on Friday, August 29, 2008 at 21:34
I have considered Obama as good alternative to McCain with hope to see some change with US Foreign policy. However when he selected Biden as his running mate based e.g. Biden's experience about foreign affairs I doubt his judgement. Selecting a man on the record for stating that “all Serbs should be placed in Nazi-style concentration camps” during Senatorial deliberations in 1999 over NATO aggression on Serbia, and that United States ought to conduct a fascist, “Japanese-German style occupation” of Serbia. My expectations are now below zero level - unfortunately.4. Sounds serious by together on Monday, September 1, 2008 at 15:31
Hello Arktika,
My opinion on the Balkans and former sovjet republics is that politicians from that area like to use martial expressions in general. A lot of European politicians should keep that in mind when listening to Russian and Georgian representatives these days and of course they shouldn't let themselves get inspired by it.
If that was the case with Biden? I am not sure. It could also be misleading quotations or wrong tranlations that you are refering to. If not, please give evidence for what you say. Where can I find the original speeches were such quotes can be found? If you cannot prove your words with facts, better do not make such statements!

From http://www.thecablevine.com/forum/showthread.php?p=6568“Joe (Biden) was an enthusiastic supporter of Clinton’s bombing of Serbia. So much so, he sponsored the March 23, 1999 Senate resolution authorizing Clinton to bomb Serbia. Biden declared ““all Serbs should be placed in Nazi-style concentration camps”” during Senatorial deliberations in 1999 over NATO’s attack against Serbia. On Larry King Live, he characterized the Serbs as ““a bunch of illiterates, degenerates, baby killers, butchers and rapists.””From: http://www.theconservativevoice.com/forum/read.html?id=9789&skip=15“I remind the readers that Senator Biden, in just ONE CNN interview on August 1, 1993 called the Serbs: "Thugs, murderers, rapists, aggressors, invaders, guerillas, butchers, terrorists, illiterates, degenerates, baby killers and Fascists." Biden never explains how the Serbs invated their own country or were aggressors in that same country. We threw Don Imus off of the air for making fun of black ball players but we allow Biden a bigoted Serbophobe to keep his seat in the Senate. Imagine this Senator is running for the presidency of the United States of America...with such a disgraceful level of hoof-and-mouth disease can anyone imagine where his brand of hate speech will lead?”From: http://markphaverkamp.blogspot.comUPDATE: Senator Biden silisierte 1993 Bosnier und Kroaten zu Opfern von "Aggressionen im Nazi-Stil".
