La réunion organisée par le Groupe du PSE au Comité des Régions sur le thème "Mobilising for democracy" (Mobilisés pour la démocratie) a été une excellente opportunité pour discuter de la participation des citoyens aux élections. La participation aux élections et les comportements électoraux ont été les deux grands thèmes qui ont sous-tendus les discussions entre élus politiques européens et nationaux, représentants de la Commission européenne, intellectuels et représentants de la société civile.

I can only agree that we need to pay attention to the participation of citizens with election. This is important for the democracy in the eu.
But participation should be more than just participation with election. To improve or democracy citizens should get involved in Europe and the policy making. To my opinion this can be helped with better informing the citizens, so that they know what is going on and can react.
People not knowing what is happening, not able to react is the biggest problem with democracy. It is also the problem with social Europe.

I was there and I got a lot of information about participation on elections.
