Th!nk about it seems like a really cool initiative which I wanted to share with other Yourspace contributors! Here bloggers, journalists and journalism students come together to discuss European issues and the European elections in particular.

4 months of writing. Young media junkies getting political about the union!

It sounds like another community that I know of :-)

1. Not all bloggers are ' young' ... par denmadrid le jeudi 5 février 2009 à 22h10

and this use of EU funds, without proper advertising and selection, is another FT and BBC publicity boondagle until we see any results in citizen participation, because I know they have not provided any marketing for the bloggers to reach their public and they won't even have to write in their national language.  Treating the EU Election as another game is a very corrosive message and a very common one from the anglo media, that continues to cause more divisions in Europe.

If the journalism school-du-jour, the FT and the BBC want publicity, they should pay for it themselves, or at least choose already prepared professionals that can attract real public participation.

Good luck!

Th!nk about it is one initiative to collect nearly hundred bloggers to the same platform around EU.  Denmadrid is right that all are not young like e.g. myself - one of those participants.  However after meeting many of them and having reading their articles already before sc. competition I have no doubts about the quality of bloggs evenif compared to sc. prepared professionals.  I have also strong believe - based e.g. to one meeting with MEPs in EP hat these bloggers have much more readers - especially internationals - than those MEPs with their bloggs.  One good hing also is that latest now the importance of blogosphere is recognized.  So my point is that with this initiative - administered btw European Journalist Centre (EJC) not FT nor BBC - is nothing wrong.  It only offers one channel more for group of activists.

The bloggs already published are showing great variety of themes, approaches and opinions.  Speaking about using EU money you may be interested that my first article in campaign was headlined as "€ 2,4 bn propaganda" .  I also can say that I will keep the style and attitude about the same as in my own BalkanBlog despite who is financing, supporting or administrating the campaign.
